Clinton Davis
Website
Location: City Heights, San Diego
Ages: 10+
Levels: Beginner to Advanced
Styles: Old Time American Fiddling
Contact: [email protected]
Description: The study of old time fiddling – with its emphasis on rhythm, groove, improvisation, and listening – makes an excellent supplement to classical or suzuki violin training, though such training is not necessary to learning this style. My primary goal as a teacher is to prepare students for old time jams. Lessons will cover technique, theory, repertoire, history, and listening skills. Special attention will be paid to bowing techniques that are essential to the sound of this style and often elusive for classically-trained violinists. All prospective students are welcome to discuss your musical goals during a free 30-minute consultation which you can schedule easily through my website.
Schedule: M-Th 1pm-7pm, Fr 11am-4pm
About: I am a multi-instrumentalist born and raised in northern Kentucky and currently living in San Diego, California. I have studied music my whole life, and taken a wandering path through many styles. I began with classical music, studying piano and earning a doctorate in music. Along the way, I explored the traditional music of my family home on stringed instruments like the banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin.
